Trials – Preparing be a midfielder
Physically – Trials Prep
As a midfielder preparing for football trials you need to be technically good but with the amount of changes of directions, speed and distances that the midfielder does in a 90 minute game its vital they have the physical capacity to out perform their opponents in a game.
From my experience too many players are a little bit too heavy and could do with losing 2-3 kilograms to reach their optimal weight. This is a great piece about how Kevin Miralles at Everton improved his physicality.

Decision Making
The right pass, the wrong pass on the ok pass.
Good players see a pass
Very good players see a pass and have ability to execute it
Excellent players see the best pass and execute every time
This is a good bit of information: https://youtu.be/fk8yAQU9U1E
This helps because its important to realise that you have to effect the game positively and make a difference but also not force a pass and do too many hollywood balls.
The top midfielders in the world all have different attributes but its important to also realise that they also have at least one attribute that separates them from different players.
How to improve
Watch the top players and try and identify what passes they do, what movement they do and when they do it. That is important, players need to know what the state of the game is. If you are winning 1 – 0 with 5 mins to go, that will decide what kind of decision you make.
I hope this information is useful to any midfielders out there.
